At the Madigan Foundation

We believe caring for those who serve means caring for their families – and for our Soldiers when they face medical challenges of their own.

The health and well-being of our military community directly impact readiness, resilience, and mission success.

Through thoughtful partnerships and targeted support programs, we help remove barriers to care, ease financial burdens, and provide comfort during life’s most difficult moments. From preventive screenings for children to comfort items for Soldiers and family members undergoing treatment, we are honored to stand alongside the healthcare teams at Madigan.

By strengthening the health of Soldiers and their families, we help reinforce the readiness of the force and the resilience of the community that stands behind it.

The programs below represent just a few of the many ways we put that commitment into action.

Young Heroes

The Claire Daily-Stafinbil Young Heroes Program is an annual award ceremony at Madigan Army Medical Center that recognizes children of active-duty Soldiers who face severe physical or developmental challenges. Renamed in 2005 to honor a dedicated supporter, the program celebrates the courage and perseverance of these young patients with medals, certificates, and gifts.

Vision Support Program

Every child deserves the chance to see the world clearly. In partnership with the Madigan Pediatric Ophthalmology team, The Madigan Foundation helps ensure that children receive the specialized prescription glasses they need — even when the cost feels out of reach for their families.

Through this program, we fund a child’s first pair of glasses and provide financial assistance to families facing financial hardship. By easing this burden, we help children focus on learning, growing, and simply being kids — with a clearer, brighter view of the world around them.

Oncology Comfort Support

Healing involves more than medicine. During long infusion appointments, small comforts can make a meaningful difference for patients and families navigating cancer treatment.

The Madigan Foundation provides comfort items such as water, snacks, and activities to help pass the time during infusions. We also supply seatbelt covers to help protect sensitive port sites and reduce irritation on the ride home.

Before this support was established, oncology staff often personally covered the cost of these items because they understood that a compassionate, comfortable environment supports healing. Today, we are honored to partner with the oncology team to ensure patients receive these thoughtful touches — easing the journey, one small comfort at a time.

Dental Screening Partnership

Strong smiles support strong futures. Through our partnership with Lindquist Dental Clinic, The Madigan Foundation helps ensure that every child enrolled in school on Joint Base Lewis-McChord has access to a dental screening.

These screenings provide early identification of potential dental concerns, and parents are notified and encouraged to seek appropriate follow-up care when needed. Early detection helps prevent larger issues, reduces discomfort, and supports children’s overall health and readiness to learn.

We are proud to stand alongside Lindquist Dental Clinic in caring for the children of our service members. By supporting their health and well-being, we honor the sacrifice of our military families and help ensure their children can grow, learn, and thrive with confidence.
